Miranda Barbour, 19, shocked the world on Valentine’s Day (2014) when she claimed she committed between 22 and 100 murders over a six-year time span covering five different States as part of a satanic cult. Dubbed the “Craigslist Killer,” the Pennsylvania teen is accused of killing Troy LaFerrara, 42, of Port Trevorton after she met him on Craigslist. Miranda said she met LaFerrara on Craigslist and agreed to have sex with him for $100 in November (2013). They met in the parking lot of the Susquehanna Valley Mall in Hummels Wharf, and drove nearly six miles to Sunbury. She said she planned to let LaFerrara out of her Honda CRV but “he said the wrong things.” Barbour said she told LaFerrara that she had just turned sixteen-years-old. “He told me that ‘it was OK.’ If he would have said no, that he wasn’t going to go through with the arrangement, I would have let him go.” Laferrara was killed on November 11, 2013, and his body was found in the backyard of a home in Sunbury on November 12th.
Miranda said last Friday night that LaFerrara was not supposed to be stabbed, just strangled by her husband, Elytte Barbour, 22, but “things got out of control.” As Elytte strapped a cord around LaFerrara’s neck from the back seat, Miranda stabbed him 20 times. Miranda said that she has participated in several slayings in Alaska and others in Texas, North Carolina and California. She said she “stopped counting” at 22 victims. “I can pinpoint on a map where you can find them,” she said. She also said that the murder of LaFerrara was the couple’s first murder together.
Police have said that Elytte told investigators the two are members of a satanic cult and that they committed the crime because they wanted to kill someone together. LaFerrara, Miranda Barbour said, was Elytte’s first victim. Miranda and Elytte were married in October 2013, before moving from North Carolina to Pennsylvania where they were arrested and charged LaFerrara’s murder. “By no means is this a way to glorify it or get attention,” she told the Daily Item, a small newspaper in Sunbury, PA. “I’m telling you because it is time for me to be honest.”
Sunbury police Chief Steve Mazzeo told the newspaper that investigators have been in contact with authorities in other states. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against both Barbours. When told that the prosecutor was seeking the death penalty, Miranda said she should not be subject to the death penalty because it’s “cruel and inhuman punishment.”
Newscasters caught up with Elytte as
he was heading to a hearing yesterday:
Eyewitness News-reporters: Do you think she actually killed 22 people?
Elytte: Who’s to say?
Eyewitness News-reporters: Do you think she’s lying?
Elytte: I didn't say that.Eyewitness News-reporters: Do you think she’s lying?
Eyewitness News-reporters: Do you think she's telling the truth?
Elytte: Don’t put words in my mouth.
Miranda said that she has been killing since she was thirteen-years-old. Authorities, however, have expressed doubts about Miranda’s claims of multiple victims. “As of this date, there has been no verification of any of the information that has been the subject of media coverage regarding prior acts of the defendant, Miranda Barbour,” Anthony Rosini, the district attorney of Northumberland County, said in a statement today to ABCNews.com. If her claim is true it would make Miranda a serial killer, rare for females. Despite her confession to the newspaper, a lawyer for Barbour entered a not-guilty plea at her arraignment.
More troubles about Miranda
were revealed today when it was discovered that the 19-year-old is also the mother
of a 2-year-old girl from a previous relationship. After being released from Snyder
County protective services in Pennsylvania, a custody battle ensued among multiple
different family members. The little girl’s father, however, is nowhere to be
found while all of the horrifying chaos was going on. Elytte Barbour is
claiming that the father of Miranda’s 2-year-old daughter is dead. While police
are currently investigating whether or not this is true, Miranda’s mother has
gone on the record that this is false information. Although no one in the family
seems to know his identity, Elizabeth is adamant that whoever he is, he’s
alive. “He is not dead. But we don’t know who the father is,” Miranda’s mother
said. “It could be one of several people.”

Barbour claims to be a satanist of the of the Anton LaVey church of satan variety.
ReplyDeleteShe claims to have stopped counting victims at "22."
It is, surely, not a coincidence that in LaVey's authorized biography, "The Secret Life of a satanist" by Blanche Barton, it states the following about LaVey, "He swears that each time he reads a new killing spree, his only reaction is, 'What, 22 people? Is that all?'"
Also, in the satanic bible, LaVey wrote a chapter titled, "On the Choice of a Human Sacrifice" which gives ample excuse for satanic ritual murders.
Lastly, there are numerological reasons for the "22" designation. Search online for "Satanic crime - murder by numbers, the Barbours and the number 1 (and 11)"
She stabbed a guy 20 times but the death penalty is "cruel & inhuman punishment"? That's hilarious!!
